Description: The N-terminal region of HSV gD-1, comprising residues 1-21 of mature gD, is known to be a strong antigenic site, and peptides from this domain are able to induce both B- and T-cell responses. Peptide 9-21 (LKMADPNRFRGKD) was shown to be the optimal epitope of the N-terminal part of gD for Mab A16, in which amino acids 13Asp, 16Arg, and 17Phe are essential for Mab A16 recognition. The 9-21 peptide exhibited good antibody recognition in linear form, either free or conjugated to carriers.
